Nearest Railway Station to Statue of Unity: Train Routes & Travel Guide

Ekta Nagar. That's the station you want, code EKNR. If an older blog or a map app says Kevadia or Kevadiya, it means the same place. The name changed in January 2022. Trains come in from Ahmedabad, from Mumbai's Dadar Western, and from Pratapnagar near Vadodara.

Getting off the train doesn't put you at the statue, though. It's still a few kilometres away, and that last bit is where people lose time. This guide covers the trains, the final stretch, and how to plan around both.

🚆 Which Is the Nearest Railway Station to the Statue of Unity?

Ekta Nagar, on the Dabhoi to Ekta Nagar line of Western Railway. It was built for the monument, which is why a few trains simply end here instead of passing through.

One small trap is the old name. Some pages still say Kevadia. When you book, type EKNR and be done with it.

📍 Distance from Ekta Nagar Railway Station to the Statue of Unity

About 7 km, going by the official Ekta Nagar travel page. Other sites say 5 km. Either way, you're not walking it with luggage, so plan a ride.

And "thestatue of unity" isn't the whole trip. The safari, the gardens and the evening attractions are spread across the wider complex, so expect more short hops once you're inside. The free electric buses link the main ones.

🚉 How to Reach the Statue of Unity by Train

Open IRCTC or NTES and put EKNR in as the destination. Then check three things: the date, whether your class has seats, and the arrival time. The arrival time matters most, because it decides whether you get a full day or half of one.

No direct train from your city? Change at Ahmedabad or Vadodara, and leave a proper gap between connections. The shortest layover the app offers is a gamble.

🛤️ Trains to Ekta Nagar from Major Cities

I looked at timetable listings on 22 October 2026. They come from third-party railway sites, not IRCTC, so use them as a starting point and confirm on the official system before you book. Timings shift, especially around festivals.

Ahmedabad: the Jan Shatabdi Express, in two pairs, 20947 and 20948, and 20949 and 20950. Listings put the ride at roughly three hours, which is shorter than the four-plus hours by road in the official figures. Mumbai: the Dadar Western to Ekta Nagar Superfast Express, 12927 and 12928, listed as a daily service.

Vadodara: MEMU trains between Pratapnagar and Ekta Nagar, numbered 69201 and 69202, plus 69203 and 69204. Vadodara Junction itself is about 90 km away, so plenty of people just take a cab.

🚕 How to Reach the Statue of Unity from Ekta Nagar Station

Outside the station there are free e-buses supported by the authority, Pink EV autos, ordinary autos, and cabs you can book on demand. I haven't quoted fares. I couldn't confirm a current one, and a wrong number is worse than none.

On event days, give this last leg extra time. It takes longer than usual, and road access can be controlled, so follow whatever the staff on the ground tell you even if it differs from your plan. If you're travelling with older relatives or small kids, sort out how you'll get from the station before you board, not once you're standing outside it.

🎟️ What to Plan Before Your Train Journey

Buy your attraction tickets before you leave. Standing in a queue after a three-hour train ride is a lousy way to start.

Then do the arithmetic. A train that gets in late morning gives you an afternoon, not a day. Look at the last train home too, because the evening departures in the listings might clip the evening attractions. And an on-time arrival doesn't guarantee entry to any particular attraction.

Often, yes. If your train lands late in the morning and the last one leaves in the evening, you spend more hours on the rails than at the statue. A night in Ekta Nagar fixes that. You start early, catch the evening attractions, and head home the next day.
